We’re experiencing extreme heat early this summer in North Carolina, with temperatures over 100 for the first time in 3 years and records being broken on back-to-back days, so it was time to get the last of the spring crops out of the garden.

Among them was our first-ever head of fennel, beets, and turnips, as well as a large bag of romaine and two of kale. Now that the garden’s in high gear it’s been fun being able to plan a whole week of meals all including something from our backyard.
